Loki is one of the major deities in the Norske pantheon. He is a son of the giant Farbauti ("cruel striker") and the giantess Laufey. He is regarded as one of Aesir, but is on occasion their enemy. He is connected with fire and magic, and can assume many different shapes (horse, falcon, fly). He is crafty and malicious, but is also heroic. The ambivalent god grows progressively more unpleasant, and was directly responsible for the death of Balder, the god of light.

Loki's mistress is the giantess Angrboda, and with her he is the father of three monsters. His wife is Sigyn, who stayed loyal to him, even when the gods punished him for the death of Balder. He was chained to three large boulders; one under his shoulders, one under his loins and one under his knees. A poisonous snake was placed above his head. The dripping venom that lands on him is caught by Sigyn in a bowl. But every now and then, when the bowl is filled to the brim, she has to leave him to empty it. Then the poison that falls on Loki's face makes him twist in pain, causing earthquakes.

On the day of Ragnarok, Loki's chains broke and he led the giants into battle against the gods. Loki is often called the Sly One, the Trickster, the Shape Changer, and the Sky Traveler. He was defeated but was welcomed back after Ragnarok as part of the new cycle.

The followers of Loki always work in secrecy, hidden from most people. While many followers of Loki rely on humor (sometimes very cruel and difficult to understand) to help people, others work on assassination, mayhem and chaos.

Clergy and Temples

Clerics of Loki are often solitaires, hiding their real profession behind the cover of traders and other professions. Most clerics of Loki are also rogues or wizards. The Shadowwalkers of Loki are the mightiest assassins organisation of Norske, and maybe even all Loren. Temples are always hidden, often in the cellars of shops and warehouses, without windows. Some clerics use the destructive power of fire to punish sinners and to help the oppressed.

This prestige class is the equivalent to the assassin from DMG, with following modifications:

Spells: Must be able to cast 2nd level divine spells granted by Loki.

Class Abilities

Spell progression: With each level as Shadowwalker, the character gains a level in the divine spell caster class he had before, thus gaining access to new spells. If by any means the characters losses the ability to cast divine spells granted by Loki, he cannot longer progress in the Shadowwalker class.
