Elves

The descendants of the Saathylaiel are one of the most beautiful of the mortal races. They have kept many of the features of their ancestors, and although they are mortals, their lives can last even some millennia. During the pass of the millennia, the elves have separated in several sub races. Some have bred with extraplanar elves arrived through portals or in spell jammer ships. The sub races are:

[Moon Elves] [Drow] [Wood Elves] [Sea Elves] [Blood Elves] [Wild Elves] [Half-elves] [Age, Height and Weight]

Moon Elves

These are the "standard" elves as described in the PH. They can be found all over Naboria, but they have built big cities only in the northern forests of Nimur. In other countries there are small elven villages or small clans of nomadic elves. These elves are the cross-breed of Saathylaiel with Spell Jamming Elves. These elves are often referred by other races as High Elves. Moon Elves can live many thousand years, although most die before reaching 2000 years. The oldest still living Moon Elf claims to be over 10,000 years old. The traits of the Moon Elves are:

  • +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution.
  • Medium: As Medium creatures, elves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Elf base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Immunity to magic sleep effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects.
  • Low-Light Vision: An elf can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
  • Weapon Proficiency: Elves receive the Martial Weapon Proficiency feats for the longsword, rapier, longbow (including composite longbow), and shortbow (including composite shortbow) as bonus feats.
  • +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it.
  • Automatic languages: High Elven (5/5), Regional Language.
  • Bonus Languages: Ancient Elven, Sylvan.
  • Favored Class: Wizard. A multiclass elf's wizard class does not count when determining whether she takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing.

Drow or dark elves

These normally evil black skinned elves are the result of the cross breed with extraplanar elves from Toril. They have built many underground empires, but they are most numerous in the Shadow Empire below Loren. Not all drow are evil, but the few neutral or good drow settlements are scattered around the world, their inhabitants preferring an isolated existence. Drow have following traits:

  • +2 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Dex, -2 Con.
  • +2 on Will saves against spells and spell like effects.
  • Darkvision: Drow elves can see in the dark up to 120 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and drow elves can function just fine with no light at all.
  • Spell like abilities 1/day - Dancing Lights, Darkness, Faery Fire as a wizard of the same level.
  • Light Blindness: Exposure to bright light like sunlight or the daylight spell blinds a drow for 1 round. Drow suffer a -1 penalty to all attack rolls, saves and checks while in bright light.
  • SR 11+level.
  • Automatic languages: Drow Elven (5/5), undercommon(2/2).
  • Bonus Languages: Ancient Elven, Duergar, Draconic, Regional Surface Language.
  • ECL +2.

Wood Elves

Wood elves are found on most forest of Naboria, but their major settlements are found deep in the forests of Nimur. They do not build cities like the Moon Elves, but integrate their settlements completely in the nature, their homes being grown from living trees. They have the same traits as standard elves with following differences:

  • +1 Str, -2 Con, +2 Dex.
  • Bonus feat: Tree Topping.
  • Automatic languages: Wood (Sylvan) Elven (3/3), High Elven (3/5).

up

Sea Elves

These elves have 'adapted' to submarine life and have lost most of the knowledge of their race. Their settlements lie in the temperate waters of the ocean, near the coasts. They have been driven away by the Loah' from some of their original settlements and are hunted by the sahuagin. They are shy and distrust all estrangers. Some sages claim that they were created by the Loah' from moon elves before they created the kurr. Sea elves have following traits:

  • +2 Str, +2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Cha.
  • +2 save bonus vs. cold based spells
  • Speak with animals, at will (maritime only) (Ex)
  • Can stay outside water for one minute for every point of Con. Thereafter the character begins to drown.
  • Automatic Languages: Sea Elven (3/3).

up

Blood or Gray Elves

This is another evil sub-race of elves. They dwell in huge cities on the continent of Nimur. They are decadent and vicious, but masters of alchemy and torture. They have pale, often greyish skin and grey eyes. They consume drugs to push up their abilities but become often dependent of them. They have the same traits as standard elves with following exceptions:

  • +2 Con, +2 Int, -2 Wis, -2 Cha.
  • +2 save bonus vs. poisons.
  • Automatic languages: High Elven (5/5), Regional Language.

up

Wild elves

These barbaric elves are the less civilized of their kin. Their lives are relatively short, reaching only up to 300 years. They are violent and primitive and don't recognise other elves as their kindred. They dwell in small numbers in various forests all over Naboria. They believe the Apocalypse was a punishment from the Nine Fold Lord (Io). Only few wild elves learn the ways of magic, but only in a semi-shamanistic way. Wild elves mages have no access to meta-magic feats. They create only very simple magic items, most of them enchanted weapons and armours. They have the same traits as standard elves with following differences:

  • +2 Str, +2 Con, +2 Dex, -2 Int, -2 Wis, -4 Cha.
  • Automatic Languages: Wood Elven (3/3 - illiterate)
  • Favoured Class: Ranger

up

Half-elves

Finally, there are the half-elves. They can be found there where elven and human cultures come in contact. In some cultures half-elves are highly respected, while in other cultures they are mistrusted or hatred. All half-elves, regardless of the races of the elven parent, share the same attributes as in PH. However, half-elves tend to show features that could help identify the sub-race of their parents.

  • Medium: As Medium creatures, half-elves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Half-elf base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Immunity to sleep spells and similar magical effects, and a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells or effects.
  • Low-Light Vision: A half-elf can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
  • +1 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.
  • +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks.
  • Elven Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-elf is considered an elf.
  • Automatic Languages: Regional Language and Parents Elven language.
  • Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic).
  • Favored Class: Any.
